On the Day of Your Visit

  • Allow enough time for travel—but don’t overdo it!
    • We are located about 25 minutes from downtown Buffalo or 35 minutes from East Aurora, but periodically road construction will slow your progress. Please call us at (716) 947-9217 if you are running late, and we will do our best to accommodate you.
  • There is NO food service on-site, however the Pavilion Shop has a variety of snacks for purchase. Picnicking is permitted in the lawn areas adjoining the parking lot.
  • A portion of all tours is outside, rain or shine, so wear comfortable attire suitable to the weather.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes as there is considerable walking during the tour.
    • Stiletto heels are NOT permitted within the house. This is to protect the restored floor of the house.
  • Pets, excluding service animals, are NOT permitted at Graycliff, except for the grounds during the Market at Graycliff.

Graycliff is located in Derby, New York, a village within the town of Evans, just southwest of Lakeview and Hamburg, and just two minutes from Lake Shore Road (NY 5), the best route from Buffalo via the Skyway.

Frequently Asked Questions About Your Visit to Graycliff

Advanced ticket purchase is required for all Graycliff tours, except our Open House Tours (self-guided tours, offered on select days during the year, and during the Market at Graycliff). Walk-in visitors may register and pay on site provided that the tour is available, and not sold out. Tours often sell out during our busy summer months of June through September, as well as holiday weekends and for special events.

If you are looking to tour day of, we highly recommend giving us a call at 716-947-9217 before heading out to Graycliff.

Self-guided tours of Graycliff are not currently available regularly, but are always offered during our Market at Graycliff and on select dates. Guided tours of Graycliff are available on a regular, seasonally based schedule. Advance ticket purchase is required.

A parking area is located just outside the M&T Bank Visitor Pavilion with two designated accessible parking spots.

Graycliff tours begin at the M&T Bank Visitor Pavilion located adjacent to the parking area. Guests are asked to check in at the Visitor Pavilion upon arrival and join their docent-led group for the tour.

Graycliff tours cover two and a half acres of our historic site. There is considerable walking, including ascending a flight of stairs for access to the second floor of the houses. Cane stools are available in the Visitor Pavilion for guest use on tours, as well as bench seating throughout the main house. If you have advisability concerns, please contact us before your visit, and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Photos may be taken for personal use only. Video of the property and/or your tour is not allowed under any circumstances.

Graycliff is open year round for tours! From April through November, we offer our Standard and Extended tour program six days a week. From December through March, we run a seasonally-adjusted Winter Tour on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

As a historic house, Graycliff is not currently accessible due to a variety of reasons, including stairs, unpaved and uneven areas, lighting limitations, and other concerns. Our Visitor Pavilion is accessible at this time.

Our golf cart may be requested for those who may need mobility assistance. To reserve the golf cart for a tour, please call (716) 947-9217. Please Note: The golf cart is weather dependent, and is not available if it is raining, or has recently rained, or during the off-season of November through March. 

Graycliff does not furnish wheelchairs but does offer mobility assistance with the golf cart, on a first come first serve reservation. Further, guests are welcome to use wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and the like, provided that they have rubber wheels or tips to protect our historic flooring.

Most Graycliff tours are suitable for ages 5 and up! Please check out our new Graycliff for Kids Tour, or call us at 716-947-9217, to see when the next experience is available.

Infants are permitted on most Graycliff tours, provided that they are carried at all times. Please be mindful of your child, and any disturbance they may be causing other guests, as we strive to provide the best possible guest experience. Strollers are not permitted in interior locations, however, and the infant must be carried.

For select special events, such as The Market at Graycliff, we encourage visitors of all ages to enjoy the property! 

Strollers are allowed on the grounds, but not in the historic houses due to space constrictions and the safety of the restored interiors.

Graycliff offers a student rate for guests aged 9 to 17, and all college students (with proper student ID). Additionally, guests aged 5 to 8 are free, with reservation.

Tours are offered for free or a reduced-rate to Graycliff Members. Members also receive a discount in the gift shop and online at ShopGraycliff.org. Likewise, Graycliff participates in a number of reciprocal programs that offer free or reduced rate admission.

One month out of the year, we run a special discounted rate for residents of Erie County, NY. Please call us at 716-947-9217, for more information. 

Additionally, we are a participating organization of the Arts Access Program and Museums for All Program. We offer free or reduced admission for guests qualify for these programs. Please call us for more information, and to reserve your tour, at 716-947-9217.

Graycliff is proud to participate in six reciprocal programs: Time Travelers, Empire State Museum Reciprocal Program (ESMRP), American Horticultural Society Garden Reciprocal Network, Frank Lloyd Wright Reciprocal Program (FLWR), North American Reciprocal Program (NARM), and Reciprocal Organization of Associated Museums (ROAM).

Members of these participating programs MUST call Graycliff Staff at 716-947-9217 to make their free or discounted tour reservations. Members should also be prepared to show proof of membership the day of the tour.

Graycliff offers participants of these programs two tickets at no charge for our Open House or Standard tours, or a reduced rate on two tickets for our Extended tours. 

Participating programs do not stack, and reciprocal benefits do not stack, and each party is limited to two free or reduced admissions. You will be required to show your membership card upon arrival, featuring a logo for these reciprocal programs, to receive your free or reduced admission

There is no food service available on site, but we do have beverages, ice cream, and snacks available seasonally. We also encourage guests to picnic at our outdoor tables as weather permits, and local restaurants are available within a five-minute drive.

The Pavilion Shop at Graycliff is located within the M&T Bank Visitor Pavilion and is open on days the site is open from 10 AM to 4 PM. Visitors do not need to take a tour to buy items in the shop.

The Pavilion Shop at Graycliff is always open online at ShopGraycliff.org.

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Martin House and Graycliff Conservancy are two separate nonprofit organizations each with a distinct mission but a common goal centered around sharing the history of the Martin family and Wright’s genius. We strongly encourage you to visit both sites during your visit to Western New York.
